Counsellor qualifications and membership to BACP

Thank you for visiting our website. We are receiving a lot of questions regarding required training hours and placement required to be accepted for membership of BACP.  We ensure that our courses meet their requirements, and we do this because we believe that to become a qualified counsellor and work safely with clients requires a minimum of 350 guided learning hours.  Our students undertake a minimum of 450 training hours and complete a minimum of 100 placement hours.

Learning to be a counsellor is journey like no other, it involves a lot of personal awareness and development alongside the skills and theory training. If we are to work with clients safely we need to understand ourselves, and sometimes this is a hard task.  As you travel through our course material you will become aware of so much about your life, your family and social groups. We will ensure that you have a clear understanding of Carl Rogers' core conditions of empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard and way it is essential in building a good professional relationship with clients.

We will assess you for placement at a time when we feel you are ready and equipped the required skills to allow you to work safely and professionally. Please don't begrudge the hours it takes to get to the finish line, I can assure you it will be worth it.  We truly believe that BACP have got it right and we intend to meet those guidelines in every way possible. Enjoy your journey.
