This is the foundation course that will lead you to a counselling qualification

In this course you will learn the principles of counselling and how to build an essential relationship with clients, with the emphasis on confidentiality, empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.

  • You will gain more self awareness by engaging in personal development. We will teach you how to really listen and attend. At this level we use a person centred approach based on the theory of Carl Rogers.

be eligible to apply for our Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC)

Our level 4 diploma will teach you skills to work at a deeper level with complex issues and allow you to practice and develop different theoretical styles to find the best way to work that suits your clients’ needs and your personality.

After successful completion of this course you will be a qualified counsellor. You can then apply for full membership and continue your journey towards accreditation.

 Higher National Certificate L4 - Integrative Counselling & Applied Psychology

Course Ref: BTEC HNC L4

When you complete a BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) with Lindum College you will also be awarded our Level 4 Diploma in Counselling. The guided learning hours will be 480 and meet the BACP membership and accreditation requirement & you will be eligible to apply for full membership.

Our level 4 diploma will teach you skills to work at a deeper level with complex issues and allow you to practice and develop different theoretical styles to find the best way to work that suits your clients’ needs and your personality.

After successful completion of this course you will be a qualified counsellor. You can then apply for full membership and continue your journey towards accreditation.

After successful completion of our L4 you will be awarded a Higher National Certificate L4 and will have the option to continue onto

the Level 5 Higher National Diploma

On successful completion of the HNC you will be eligible to apply for full membership of BACP

You will be invited to a Lindum College Cap and Gown graduation event to celebrate your success.


Level 4 Diploma in Counselling Skills & Theory combined with BTEC - HNC Level 4 - 2024 (New)


When you complete a combined Level 4 Diploma & BTEC Higher National Certificate (HNC) with Lindum College you will also be awarded our Level 4 Diploma in Counselling skills & theory and BTEC - HNC in counselling and Applied Psychology. The guided learning hours will be 480 and include 50 hours of your level 3 certificate. This course does meet the BACP membership and accreditation requirement & you will be eligible to apply for full membership.

Our level 4 diploma will teach you skills to work at a deeper level with complex issues and allow you to practice and develop different theoretical styles to find the best way to work that suits your clients’ needs and your personality.

After successful completion of this course you will be a qualified counsellor. You can then apply for full membership and continue your journey towards accreditation.
